A Tuscan dream between Bibbona and Bolgheri
Tenuta Vergaia is a jewel nestled in the gentle Tuscan hills of the municipality of Bibbona, near Bolgheri.
In this idyllic landscape, ideal growing conditions prevail for crafting great wines: the proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea, an extraordinarily varied terroir, and a temperate climate.
Vergaia was founded in 2017 by Philipp Hildebrand, former president of the Swiss National Bank, driven by his passion for fine wines and a grand vision.
Thanks to our friendship with Philipp Hildebrand, we have had the opportunity to partner with his precious estate.
Riccardo Cotarella, a renowned winemaker, brings his expertise and experience in viticulture and winemaking.
The grape varieties — Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot — grow on clay-sandy soils at altitudes between 80 and 90 meters above sea level and cover approximately 10 hectares with medium-term planting.
The different wine varieties mature in French barriques for about 15 months, are then blended, and finally age in the bottle for another 12 months.
Vergaia is an elegant, full-bodied wine with great richness and smoothness, featuring complex aromas and a variety of flavor notes.
