Our vineyards
The importance of Montepulciano wines in a Tuscan enological panorama can be dated back to the Etruscan era.
In 1983 we laid down our roots in Vallocaia, an ancient, renowned Polician hill.
In the work of one generation we have enriched the property with other locations dedicated to viticulture and in particular to Sangiovese, each with its own colours and perfumes: Camparone, Casalte and Santa Maria. Our vineyards are located within four production zones of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, known as the Pievi: Sant’Ilario (Vallocaia), Cervognano (Camparone), Sant’Albino (Casalte), and Cerliana (Santa Maria). The large variety of soils and the different microclimatic conditions of the areas, thanks to diverse geological origins and their morphology, bestow a complex range of aromas and body to its respective wines.
We have created small vineyards, totally or partially covered with grass, surrounded by hedges and embankments, interspersed with woods, olive groves and arable lands to strengthen the biodiversity of the ecosystem and improve the optimisation of the water. All forms of forcing are avoided with the intent to render the plants more resistant to adversity and to obtain healthy and mature fruits which express the energy and the character of the land from which they come.

The soils of Vallocaia are marked by an abundant presence of sand and a varied colouring. The altitude is between 260 and 320 m above sea level. The Sangiovese of this area gives wines of great distinctiveness, with characteristics of finesse, elegance and complexity.
